HOUSTON, TX:  LAKEWOOD CHURCH PARTNERS WITH DESPERATE FOR RESPITE TO HELP IMPACT THE LIVES OF FAMILIES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS BY PROVIDING A DAY OUT FOR PARENTS!

On Saturday, July 30, 2011 Lakewood church will be sponsoring and partnering with Desperate For Respite to provide family caregivers of disabled children and dependent adults with a four hour respite!  We are anticipating this special event to be the largest respite event in our nation’s history!  With the help of our staff, volunteers and community sponsors we are sure to demand national attention which will help us promote awareness for the desperate need for respite care and family caregiver support programs in our community!

The summer months are typically the most challenging times for parents caring for special needs children and dependent adults.  While school is closed and few resources available, little or no relief causes overwhelming stress for these families.  We’re aiming to give these families a desperately needed break while caring for their disabled dependents in a safe, caring and fun environment!
